Lucids
The future is created in our dreams, and a rare few control it. When sixteen-year-old Tess Shaw rewrites tomorrow in search of her missing mother, she learns that tomorrow always collects.
While we sleep, the future is rehearsed in our shared dream realm called the Dreamstate. Most people wake with only fragments they mistake for dreams. But a rare few, called Lucids, are fully conscious there, fighting over which version of tomorrow reaches the morning.
A powerful faction of Lucids known as the Regents, led by the enigmatic Kingmaker, has seized control of that process. From the shadows, they steer the course of human events, deciding which futures become real in their pursuit of a safer, more predictable world.
Then sixteen-year-old Tess Shaw does the impossible. Searching the Dreamstate for clues to her mother's disappearance, she breaks a future that was locked in place and becomes the girl the future cannot predict.
She learns every change comes at a price: tomorrow always collects. Hunted by the Kingmaker’s Regents, Tess is drawn into a hidden war, forcing her to decide who should control the future... and whether a certain tomorrow is worth surrendering freedom for.
